ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"Inspired by Light"
My photographic vision is to create art that reflects the intimacy of moment when light meets form.
Using natural light, I photograph with Fuji’s medium format panoramic camera and a Nikon 35 mm. I use Fuji Velvia transparency film exclusively, as it gives me the necessary color saturation and density required for creating large sized works of art.
Slides are drum scanned, color corrected using a digital workflow, transferred to Fuji Crystal Archive matte paper and printed in RA4 chemistry. I lease professional darkroom facilities, and personally create each print.
Framed art pieces are constructed with museum quality materials. I also offer a frameless presentation where I mount large pictures on a thin aluminum substrate and apply a luster UV protective laminate. Affixed to a 2 inch wood base, it creates a contemporary look.
Prints are issued in limited editions of 250.
My studio is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It includes a professional digital darkroom, framing shop, and gallery. My wife and daughter assist in assembly.
